Portsmouth, RI - Armando C. Ferreira, 95, of 140 Corys Lane, Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at home. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was married to Irene C. Ferreira for 70 years. Born in Portsmouth, RI on May 24, 1913, he was the son of the late Antonio C. and Jacinta Rodriques Ferreira.Armando was a farmer for many years and worked for Building Materials in Fall River until retiring in 1975. He belonged to AARP and the Forever Young Club. Armando was Sargeant of Arms for the Portuguese American Club and was also a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center. Armando loved to be with his family and enjoyed gardening, watching wrestling and playing pool. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Richard C. Ferreira and his wife Barbara of Bristol, RI, his daughter Veronica Ronnie Stoker of Portsmouth, RI, his grandchildren, Cheryl Papi, Richard C. Ferreira, Jr. and his wife Candace, Sharlene Stoker, Linda Key and Kimberly Chavous and her husband Robert and ten great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Diamentina Camara, Frank Cabral Ferreira and Georgianna Gomes. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the funeral home.
