Lydia E. Candelario Kuiee, 80, of Pond Avenue, Newport, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2009 at home with her family by her side.Born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico on April 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Miguel and Agustina Arc Candelario.She was the wife of Robert R. Sonny Kuiee.She retired as a child caregiver with New Visions in Newport.In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children, Modesto Echevarria, Sr. of Middletown, RI, Miguel A. Guelo Arc of Newport, RI, Luis A. Tony Kuiee of Newport, RI, Edith A. Tina Kuiee of Newport, RI, Rosa J. Kuiee of Pompano Beach, FL and Lucille Kitty Kuiee of Newport, RI; two step-sons, Michael Monteiro and Robert Anderson, both of Newport, RI; her sister, Rosa Julia Candelario of Penuelas, Puerto Rico; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 9 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport.Committal prayers will be held in the chapel at Atlantic Cremation Service, Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice Services of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, 02871.
