"My condolences to the Field family. We have so many fond memories of Liggetts Drugstore and soda fountain in the Aquidneck shopping center. These include ten cent cokes, fourteen cent vanilla cokes and twenty five cent french fries in the booths at the soda fountain. Mr. Field was so kind and patient with us all. We always had a friendly place to go if we were lucky enough to scrape up ten cents! Thanks for all of the kindness and all of the memories."

"We are deeply sorry for the loss of Marshall. He was a kind and gentle spirit who deeply loved his wife and family. He loved even those who were not his family, by societies standards, but as if they were. We understand this from a first hand perspective as he welcomed us as "adopted" grandkids and our children with us. Marshall will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our heart and prayers go to all who mourn."

"Dear Mrs. Field & Family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Mr. Field was a delightful and kind merchant. He treated his customers with dignity and respect even if we were buying a 5-cent candy bar. I remember my father and grandfather buying Old Dutch Master cigars. As a kid Ligett's was such a part of my shopping experience. May God hold you all in the palm of His hand. Sincerely, Beth Murphy Ward"
