Newport, RI - John T. Peter Gatta, 71, of 137 Third Street, Newport, RI, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Cambridge, MA on October 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Angelo and Emma Findley Gatta. Mr. Gatta worked most of his life as a painter, he was the owner of AOK Painting of Newport, RI and later worked for Simon Company for over 20 years serving as a property manager. He is survived by his children, John T. Gatta of Portsmouth, RI, Patricia Gatta of Newport, RI, Paul Gatta of Union Grove, WI, Cheryl Gatta of Troy ME, Anthony Gatta of Warwick, RI, his twin daughters Deborah and Darlene Gatta of Newport, RI, John Dubois of Portsmouth, RI and Nathaniel Gatta of Newport, RI, his siblings Olin Butchie Gambrell of Middletown, RI, William Gambrell of Clearwater, FL, Leona Bitler of Gautier, MI, and Elizabeth Gatta of New Orleans, LA, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his stepson, John James Mac McNeil.A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 3:00 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
