"Sorry to hear about your mom mike"
"To all the children, Your mother and father were two really outstanding people that made Portsmouth a better place. But I thought you would enjoy a letter I received from your mother when I left St. Mary's in 1988- she wrote "I always was comforted knowing at my death you would deal gently with my funeral -- you have decided to leave us - so I have decided not to die!!" I had grown up with her Uncle Jimmy Newsome in the old neighborhood and church in Providence so we had many things in common and many a laught together, happy memories...Peace,Joy and Comfort Gordon Stenning"
"Dear Barbara: Thank you to you and Donald for letting Will and I become part of your family for so many years. We have wonderful memories of Easter hams and Christmas Eves on the top floor with a view of the bridge. The warmth, laughter, and banter with the family Republican you know who you are, Peter. We will never forget you or Donald."
"Get all our loved ones ready for our arrival. We expect the cocktails to be served at 6pm - sharp! Make sure John Paul II serves us with his miter on . xxooxx Paul"
"Dear Abbie, My deepest sympathy to you, Larry and your family. Your mother was one of the most gracious, welcoming woman I had the pleasure to have met. She always had open arms, a superbly prepared and delivered meal, with the most fascinating conversation. I have the warmest memories of delightful summer cocktail hours while sitting with her and your Dad on the porch and I still speak of our camping trips with them to VT. My thoughts and prayers are with you."
"My sincerest condolances to my long time friend,Abbie, and all of her family. I know that you were a real support these past years at Sakonnet Bay. It can't have been easy but those times I'm sure were precious and I hope your cherished memories bring you comfort. Sincerely, Jacque Gorman"
"With warm, fond memories of her zest for life and her exquisite sense of humor, I add my farewell to a great lady, and my condolences to her immediate family."
"She proved time and again she was kind and forgiving. We did so many things that should have gotten us banned from the Hoff house, and never did. She always welcomed the spring, always welcomed us."
"I was very fortunate to have met Mrs. Hoff in 1974 through a college roomate who was her daughter Abbie. I have fond memories of weekends we spent at the family house during college and many years after that. She was one of the most caring and warmest people I have ever met, and we had so many laughs together, along with "Mr. Hoff", who loved her dearly They made the cutest couple and simply were made for each other. It was so enjoyable to watch them, wishing all married couples could be that lucky. She will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences go out to the family of "Mrs. Hoff"."
"Say hello to everybody up there for me. I'm sure you made it OK, with extra time for a flat and nothing forgotten from your list. It's a little tougher now to find a laugh each day -- but it's good advice -- real good advice."
