Portsmouth, RI - Kenneth William Potts, 53, of 2749 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Newport, RI on November 15, 1957, Kenneth worked in restaurants in Newport and Ft. Lauderdale, FL over his career. He also spent over a year living and working in France. Ken was a creative man, a talented artist and excellent gardener. Above all he cared for those around him, as a very giving person he cared for his family, especially his daughter and granddaughters. He is survived by his daughter Lindsay Potts and her fiance Dan Welby of North Kingstown, RI, his granddaughters Haley Potts and Alania Welby, his parents, Gary and Garnett Ashley of Exeter, RI, and Arthur Potts of Middletown, and his siblings, Arthur Potts and his wife Cheryl of North Kingstown, RI, Lisa A. King and her husband Jim of Middletown, RI, Terri Mahoney of Exeter, RI, William Ashley of Exeter, RI, and Kim Evans and her husband Jim of Middletown, RI, and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother SSgt Christopher Potts. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Thursday, June 23 from 5:00-7:00pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. A memorial service will follow at 7:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to Robert Potter League of Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
