Middletown, RI - Evan Nesby, 9, of 725 Jepson Lane, Middletown, RI, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Hasbro Childrens Hospital, Providence, RI.Born in Newport, RI on August 13, 2002, he was the son of Michael and Erin Hennessey Nesby.Evan was a New England Patriots fan and loved fishing. He won the Forest Avenue Fishing Tournament for 3 years in a row. He enjoyed playing baseball, surfing, going to the beach, building things with his Legos, and playing kick ball. Evan was a big volunteer at the Potter League for Animals. Evan loved spending time with his cousins and grandparents. He loved going to school, his friends and his teachers, but he loved nothing more then spending time with his family. Evan had a smile that would light up a room and would make everyone just smile along and with him and he also loved making others laugh.Besides his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Kayla Nesby and Emily Nesby of Middletown, RI, his grandparents, Marilyn Bunker Hennessey of Middletown, RI and Dale Hennessey of Little Compton, RI, and Larry and Bonnie Geffre Nesby of Aberdeen, SD, his great grandmothers, Betty Nesby and Alice Geffre of Aberdeen, SD, his aunt and uncle Glenna and Sean Johnson and his aunt Heather Nesby and his cousins, Brody, Ashlyn and Ryan Johnson.Evan was great grandson of the late Lila and Michael Bunker of Middletown, RI, the late Elinor Hennessey of Little Compton, RI, and the late Wayne Nesby and Clarence Geffre of South Dakota. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at 11:00 am in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evan Nesby Memorial Fund, c/o BankNewport, PO Box 450, Newport, RI 02840.
