Susan Gelsomino Corseri of Portsmouth, RI passed peacefully surrounded by her family and in the comfort of her home on the afternoon of March 5, 2012. Having lost her battle with cancer, Susan leaves behind a life to be remembered by the people whom she touched.Born in Providence, RI on August 16, 1956, the daughter to Mary Ricciardi Gelsomino and the late Louis Gelsomino, Susan leaves behind her husband of 25 years, Gary Corseri, as well as her two beloved children, Jaclyn Eve and Michael Anthony Corseri. Susan also leaves behind three brothers: Thomas Gelsomino of Glocester, RI and his wife Lisa; William Gelsomino of Johnston, RI and his wife Donna; and Richard Gelsomino of Ellington, CT and his wife Katie.Susan was not only a loving wife, mother and friend to many, but was also a dedicated teacher. Susan attended Johnston High School and went on to receive her Undergraduate Degree from the University of RI. She continued her education at the University of Massachusetts where she received her Masters Degree in 1981.Susan had a passion for teaching and would often spend countless hours at home making sure her students were given every opportunity to succeed in life. She retired from 30 dedicated years of Speech Pathology, parting with her dear co-workers at Melville Elementary. Throughout her career, Susan touched the hearts of many and contributed to shaping numerous students lives along the way.She loved to spend her summers lounging on the beach with her husband, close friends and a good book, and to see happiness and success in her childrens lives. Most of all, she dedicated her life to her family and her work; passing on the happiness and fulfillment that one can find in helping others.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 8 am from Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Lucy Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI. A reception will follow.Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan G.
