Middletown, RI - Nancy Volton, 82, of Middletown, RI, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at John Clarke Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of Richard Michael Volton of Middletown. Born in Troy, NY on October 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Powel and Anna Vandenburgh. She is survived by her husband Richard M. Volton of Middletown, RI, her daughter Christine V. Donnelly of Middletown, RI, her brother and sister-in-law Van and Lorraine VanDenburgh of Sedona, AZ, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her cat Jack who loved to curl up and sleep with her. She had a lovely and gentle soul and gave her kindness and care to all the family members, friends and animals blessed to have had her in their lives. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am, in St Lucys Church, West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.At the request of the family, calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840 or to the Navy Relief Society, Newport Navy Base, Newport, RI 02840.
