Theodore "Teddy" Gomes Oliveira, Jr., 17, of Newport died on August 27, 2012 in Newport. Born on July 6, 1995 in Newport, RI, he was the son of Theodore G. Oliveira, Sr. of Maine and Sloane Z. Massey of Pawtucket, RI. Teddy was later adopted by Deborah A. (Massey) Greene of Newport, RI. Teddy grew up in Newport and attended Cranston Calvert Elementary School, Thompson Junior High School and was entering his senior year at Rogers High School. He worked at the Pier Restaurant where he enjoyed the work and meeting new people. Teddy loved skateboarding up and down the streets of Newport, where he ended up making many new friends along the way. He also loved listening to music and enjoyed experimenting with beats and pops. Teddy had a great smile, an awesome sense of humor and was extremely polite to everyone he met. He was well liked by his classmates and teachers at school. Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Edward Massey of Newport, RI, and Doreen Oliveira Williams and her husband Ron of Middletown, RI, his siblings, Steven Harris and Joseph Harris of Pawtucket, RI, Tanya Jones of Providence, RI, Joshua Massey and Thomas Greene of Newport, RI as well as his nephews and niece Leon Sampson of Newport, RI, Juwan Greene of Providence, RI, Nataliya Harris and Davante Harris of Pawtucket, RI, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.He was the grandson of the late Joseph Oliveira and Barbara Carter Massey and the great grandson of the late Maria Rose Graham. "Teddy was the type of person that always made you laugh or always had something about him that stuck in your mind like his skateboard that he brought everywhere or music he used to listen to. I was a close friend of Teddy's and i miss him very much when i first heard about everything it hit me hard and it still does but I know that Teddy will live on in everyone because there's not one person that can say that everything they see doesn't seem to remind them of who Teddy was and parts that made him such a great and fun loving person. My brother and I use to live in Newport and go to Cranston Calvert with Teddy, we have a picture when he was inlike second grade standing next to my brother, who was even in Teddy's class. Even after we moved to Cranston we still went down and saw Teddy at the library with his skateboard or on a St. Paddy's Day or Halloween. Teddy was an amazing friend though sometimes he could fall in with the wrong crowd he remainded the same smart, strong person he always was. So my prayers go out to you in hopes that it makes your day a little brighter and will help you heal better.
