"To the Compos Family, My family and I are "very - very" sorry to hear about the passing of Donna. I just heard about it yesterday and wish that I had heard about it sooner. I would have liked to have paid my respect to your family and to Donna for the special woman that she was. My friendship with Donna started some years ago when she worked for my family's business. She was a very conscientious worker, a person you could always count on and worked hard for the business. Through life we make "friends" that have become an important part of some portion of it. Even though we each go our separate ways -- there - "is a connection" - with this person - that -- each time your paths cross - it is like the lapse in time - does not exist. Donna was this kind of friend to me. She would stop by to see me periodically - to say hello, talk and share --with me - what was happening in her life at that particular time. She was a genuine person and I always enjoyed seeing her. The last time that I did see her - she had informed me of the medical challenges that she was having. She had a good outlook about it, she looked good and --as always-- we talked about getting together again soon. What I will remember and miss most about Donna is her infectious dimpled smile, her great sense of humor and the fact that she was not afraid to express how she felt about a situation even if it was not a popular view. I will also remember what a compassionate and talented lady she was. She was definitely a natural and one of the best female drummers around. There will be a void in the lives of all those people that she was important to and that were important to her. I will also ---hold dear--- a picture - that Donna had taken at my family's summer cottage and had framed and gave to me. It was a picture of one of the most beautiful and colorful sunsets that many of us had ever seen. It will be - to me - like - the person - she was like - in life. It is the fond memories of her that we all will hold close. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Sincerely, Cassie (Taylor) Krasnianski & family"

"I practically grew up at the Compos House. It was always so upbeat, fun, and full of laughter. I will always think of Donna as a Beatlette cuz we all sang so many of the Beatles songs! Donna had an infectious laugh and everyone loved being with her and her family.Even though I haven't seen them in a long time, they are forever in my heart and many fond memories. I love you all and am sorry to hear of Donna's passing, but know she is now with some terrific angels on the other side.Pat Hayden"
"Donna Has touched the lives of so many and will always be remembered as a shining star, smiling and drumming on. Always quick witted and jokes that could turn any situation around. I'm sure many will cherish the jokes you pulled through out the years. What a big heart she had. You couldn't help but be happy around her, her laughter was contagious. A true nurse who cared for all with loving compassion and great care. We will miss you so much. We talked and you told me this would be the last time we could talk by our selves and you hugged me and wanted to say bye, but I told you it would never be bye, you would be part of me no matter what. It's a beautiful loving warm peaceful love that has you wrapped right now in the light. I feel your energy even now. You are soaring flying high drumming on in peace and love. You fought till the end and gave it your all. You may not be here physically any more but your spirit is with us. Rock on women and till we meet again. Oh heaven is welcoming a real angel.Rose Hehl"

"I will always remember Donna from the times I floated from the TBC, or the rare time she came to work with us. She was always a joy to work with. Always ready with a joke! Always ready to help and give her all to the staff she worked with and to the patients in her care. You will be missed."
"Another angel got her wings...I only knew Donna for a short time but what an honor to have met such an incredibly strong person. Just knowing what she was going through and she still managed to burst in the door at work full of energy with a huge grin on her face ready to get the day started... that's a true fighter. She will be greatly missed by many people but we can take comfort in knowing that she's up there keeping an eye on us--and has probably already gotten into a bunch of mischief!!"
"" I met Donna back in 2001 at Copperfield's in Warwick, RI. She was the drummer for Beyond Blonde, and I thought she and the band were Great!" "Donna always had a smile on her face, was always very sociable, and was just a Great Person and Great Musician!" "I will always remember Donna as a Friend, Fellow Musician, and as a Great Person!" "Heaven has a New Angel!" "You will be Missed so much, but Never Forgotten!""
"She was always so sweet to us, her goof-ball cousins. Some things never change..years ago I tried to fax her a card in the hospital (I had just found out she was there and it couldn't wait). Since then we have reconnected and wrote long emails and had long phone calls. She critiqued my music and I, subsequently, will stick with just vocals and bad blonde band jokes. She could make me laugh about the strangest things! I would say it came from the same throw-back Irish gene that gave her the blonde hair, but in fact, they were not funny. It was those Portuguese Compos' I believe, did you ever meet her dad, my Uncle Tony and the rest of the family? They are a fun, funny, and an incredibly talented family. A tight family! God bless you all, and much love, Lynda"
"Donna made me laugh until it hurt and helped me to feel comfortable and welcome when I was a shiny new nurse a mere 15 years ago. She had the ability to turn the everyday embarrassing moments of being human into some of the funniest stand up comic material ever written, all the while putting nervous and frightened patients at ease reminding them....we are all in this together. For two years I had the honor of witnessing her vehemently saying "NO!" to cancer. As she dragged herself from hither to yon she never missed an opportunity to lighten the moment with the humor that only Donna possessed. I don't believe I have ever met, or will meet again soon (if ever), anyone as fiercely courageous with a zest for life and an indomitable will to live as Donna Lisa Compos, (O six two six five seven) With all that you shared, I don't believe that you will ever be truly gone. Soar high and long with those wings of yours. The beat goes on. <3Much Love,Patty"

"We worked together for so many years at Newport Hospital. Whenever I got to work with her I knew it was going to be a fun day. She had a brilliant sense of humor, was a hard worker, and just a nice person in every sense of the word. She left her mark on the world, and I don't think you could ask for anything more. She touched so many people, as you can tell by all these comments. She would be honored to think so many people cared. Rest in peace Sweetie. Linda Pado"
