Many of Patti's former students stayed in touch with her as they progressed in their lives.Patti's Catholic faith sustained her and a source of strength. She gladly and willingly gave her time, talent and treasure to St. Barnabas Church. "Patti (Mrs. Fay) had both my boys, Brendan and Jameson, in her classrooms at the Elmhurst and Hathaway Schools. She was one of the kindest and most approachable of teachers. She made each student feel that he/she was special - and I am certain every one of her students felt that he/she was Mrs. Fay's "favorite". As an occasional sub and a room mom, I overheard some of Patti's "pep talks" from time to time. They were so heartfelt and effective that every student strived to impress her - never wanting to let her down... That care and interest in her students never let up even after her students left her classroom. How touching to get a phone call from Mrs. Fay asking about the first day of middle school... to receive a graduation card as well - 8 years after having her for a 4th grade teacher. She taught us all how to care more for each other and how to "build people up", especially the children in our community. Mrs. Fay, you will be missed so very much.., My deepest condolences to your family and loved ones."

"It is with a heavy heart that I send my sincere sympathy to Patti's family. I have so many happy memories of Patti back in our softball days. She was funny, kind and always had a nice word to say. Long after our Newport softball careers were over, Patti would always go out of her way to say "Hello" and chat if she saw me out and about. It was always a pleasure to see her and share a laugh even if it was for just a few minutes. The pain is over my friend and it's time to rest in heaven. Peace...Shelley Amaral"

"My condolences to family and friends! I was one of the students that always stayed in touch with Mrs. Fay. 8 years ago, as my 4th grade teacher she made a life changing impact on me. Always believing in my abilities and urged me to apply for an art contest, which I won out of the whole country. She was so proud of me and til this day I have it framed on my wall with a picture of her on it. I would see her occasionally and always update her on where life has taken me, recently sending a card doing just that again. I hope she always knew how much of a difference she made in my life. Always laughing together and being a great source of encouragement for me. She truly was a gift to this world and I am so grateful to have known her! May her life live on in all the lives she impacted. With love, Kristin Walker"

Patti was competitive yet always had a great time! And yes, blazing speed! Will never forget our post game festivities at Cappy's shooting pool, drinking, and singing along to the jukebox! One of many favorites was her getting everyone to "Do The Locomotion" around the pool table and she pulled a muscle doing a split!! Will always remember the spectacular end of the season pool parties at her house! Such a great hostess!! You will be missed but never forgotten!! RIP Patti"

We were given two superb, compassionate substitute teachers, the Coffey twins - Patti and Bobbie. They taught us superbly while on temporary leave from Grade 8 at St. Joseph's School. I guess our class can lay claim to being the first and youngest pupils of these wonderful sisters. All they were missing were the white bibs and habits.
