Arthur A. Medeiros, 89, of Middletown passed away on Saturday December 31, 2016 at Newport Hospital. He was born on July 4, 1927 in Middletown.He was the husband of Blanche (Nunes) Moniz Medeiros for 27 years and the late Alice (Miller) who he was married to for 39 years. Arthur lived on Aquidneck Island all his life.During his working career, he spent most of that time with ATR Construction until their closing and then with various other construction companies on Aquidneck Island.When Arthur was at home, he could be found in the garage or in the basement tinkering with anything and everything. He was certainly a hands on man, he was always busy. At the age of 70 he decided to take up the game of golf and learned to play a decent game. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always ready to have a good time or to help others. There is truly a great loss in many lives now.Along with his wife Arthur is survived by: his two daughters Carol LaBonte and husband Norman of Ft. Myers, FL and Tiverton, RI and Donna Violette and her husband Leo of Portsmouth, RI; his step children Steven Moniz and his late wife Bernadette of Middletown, RI, Albert Moniz and his wife Susan of Middletown, RI, and Pauline A. Uncle was such an amazing man and one I was privileged to be so close to - he didn't say much, but when he did - we all listened. "My sincere sympathy to Blanche and all of Arthur's family. Before my husband's illness, we would often walk our neighborhood and find Arthur sitting outside. We always were greeted and stopped for conversation. As my husband played golf, too, the subject often turned to that. I know that the last few years have been difficult for him and Blanche, and the last time I saw them was when they went to St. Lucy's five o'clock Mass not that long ago. We met coming in, and I told them how nice it was to see them at church once again. He will be missed in the neighborhood."
