"Mr. DelDeo was my teacher at Davol School in Fall River back in the 70s. I came across my class picture tonight and decided to look him up online. I was so saddened to read that he passed. I wanted you to know that even before tonight I would think of him often...he was so kind and caring to his students. I wanted him to know that he made an impression on me that has lasted all these years. I hope I am also making a lasting impression on my students."

"Bob and I go way back. In the summer of 1968 we worked together at Yosemite National Park in CA. In the summer of 1969 we crossed the country and part of Canada from Berkeley, CA to Tiverton. It took six weeks and 10,000 miles in Bob's VW bug. What a journey. In Glacier National Park in Montana, quite by accident, we ran across his mom and dad and brothers Steve and John on the side of the road, as they were headed westbound to California (what are the odds of this? - This was way before cell phone communication). After Bob and I reached Tiverton, I spent three weeks with his family and met much of his extended family. And what a gracious family it is. Years later, despite the fact that Bob and Suzanne were on the East Coast, whereas Nancy and I live on the West Coast, we stayed connected. Bob, Suzanne, Ben, Josh and Jonas made it out to our home in Seattle. Nancy and I made it back to Tiverton several times, including twice with our two sons. In the past eight years, Bob, Suzanne, Nancy and I have been on six cruises together. Those were good times. In July/August of 2017, the four of us journeyed through Maine and up to Quebec. We sorta knew this might be the last trip we made with Bob. Nancy and I really wish we could have made the trip back to RI for Bob's memorial service. Unfortunately we are currently traveling outside of the continental USA with our two (now adult) sons. Rest in peace, good buddy. I could not have asked for a better friend. You are sorely missed. It is a comfort knowing that you are in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will continue to pray for Suzanne and the rest of the Del Deo family. Jim and Nancy GernerSeattle, WA"

"I "met" Robert in the early 1980s. I taught 5th grade in Holton, KS and Robert taught 5th grade in Fall River. Through a Weekly Reader pen pal program I was given his name and he was given mine. For the next 25 or so years our classes would write to each other. Through our letters Robert and I enjoyed hearing about school, families, and communities. Over the years we became good friends an my wife and I had the great pleasure to get a chance to visit Robert and his family in Rhode Island several times. I loved his New England humor. Our prayers go out to his whole family at this time of loss."
