Christopher J. Cottle, age 65, of Jamestown died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Royal Middletown Nursing Center of Middletown, RI. Christopher was born March 7, 1952 in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Donald and the late Geraldine (McCarthy) Cottle of Portsmouth, RI. He was the husband of Marjorie Wadleigh for 35 years. Chris lived in Baldwinsville, NY until 1968, before moving to Portsmouth, RI, and graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1970. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received his associate's degree from Community College of Rhode Island. Chris worked for over 35 years at Raytheon.His passion was his horses and dogs. He spent his younger years training and showing his horses. Later in life he showed his dogs in obedience and draft. Chris loved the bond formed when training and working with a dog. He could often be seen walking with Marjorie and his dogs by his side around Jamestown, enjoying that special bond.Chris held various board positions and later became president of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Nashoba Valley. He was a Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America draft judge. He also was a member of the Newfoundland Club of America and the Mayflower Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club.Chris is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Wadleigh) Cottle, his four siblings, Kathleen Anderson and her husband Jim of Saint Paul, MN, Brian Cottle and his wife Claudette of Portsmouth, RI, Beth Rodrigues of Tiverton, RI, and Bruce Cottle and his wife Ann of North Chelmsford, MA, many loving nieces and nephews, and his beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Pippa, his Corgi, Becky, and his cat, Tess.A memorial service in his memory will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11:30am, in the Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gates of Harmony Therapeutic Riding Center in Ashaway, RI, Alzheimer's Association of Rhode Island or Berner, Inc.
