"Today open Facebook to one of the most one of the most horrible shocking things I've ever seen. The man who influenced me the most in life, the man who told me I could do it when nobody else could, the man who drove me to be where I'm at today shockingly and suddenly passed away three days ago. I'm in shock I'm baffled I don't know what else to say... All the love in my heart goes out to the family of Michael Saul, because all the things you were I wanted to be. All the things you are in my heart will never change, you were Stern and to the point at times but you were also fun and lovable you pushed me when I needed to be pushed and you pulled back when you knew that you went too far. The ladder didn't happen very often, you knew I'd love to be pushed to the max and that was a valuable skill that you taught me as a musician! I would not have fallen in love with me think if it wasn't for him pushing me, I would not have went to Quincy University if I didn't know that he was teaching there, I would not have any confidence you didn't show me what I could be a lot of patience. Drew High School this was the man that kept me together and kept my love for music a love and not just a hobby. I have so much love for this man, at the end we didn't talk as much as I wish we could have. I just I don't know what to say, and wishes go out to the family and close friends of Michael Saul. "

"Our family is so sorry to hear about Mr. Saul. He was one of the greatest teachers my children had the privilege of having. He taught them so much about music and was such a great example to the students. Many summers, during summer break, he offered free music lessons to the Hannibal band students and would drive from Quincy to Hannibal to do so! I greatly appreciated all that he did for my kids! He was so patient and encouraging with my kids and treated them with such respect. You could tell how proud of his students he was and that he thoroughly enjoyed teaching music. He was always smiling and it was a blessing to watch his excitement at every concert! I was going to nominate him for the Golden Apple award, and then i found out he had already received a Golden Apple award and that you can only recieve it once. So I told Mr. Saul I would nominate him again if i could! He went above and beyond and if a teacher deserved that award, it was Mr. Saul! We will miss him and the blessing he was! Praying for God to comfort you, give you rest and overflow your hearts with sweet memories of your loved one."

"I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Saul?s passing. Both of my children had him as their one of their band teachers at HMS and HHS but it was my son he impacted the most. Mr. Saul believed in him and even took time out of his school day back in 2014, when my son was in 8th grade, to send me an email detailing ?something VERY cool? my son had done in class that day. That?s the kind of teacher Mr. Saul was. He inspired his students and I truly believe he is the reason my son loves to play his trumpet and music today. I have now went back and printed that email out for my son to keep as a reminder. Mr. Saul?s saying ?early is on time and on time is late? always made me chuckle. He impacted so many lives and was a gift that will be missed but not forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Sherri Deloney"

That may not have meant anything to anyone else, but to me it meant everything. Every rehearsal he would push me to work hard, and to be the best that I can be.
