In loving memory of

David Rose
December 10, 1955 - August 12, 2011

David Loyd Rose, 55, of Farmington, UT, passed away at home, on August 8th, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was loved, and will always be remembered, by his family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Visitation will begin after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12th at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 that evening. A Christian Vigil Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with Rev. Edward Fitzpatrick and Rev. Joseph Phung celebrants. Interment will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to a memorial fund to be set up in Dave's name for Mt. Pleasant High School's Athletic Department. Dave was born December 10, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, the son of Loyd and Shirley (Sinn) Rose. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1974. On June 4, 1977, he married Kathleen McCormick at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Dave obtained his Bachelor's Degree in 1978 from Iowa Wesleyan College and his MBA from Lindenwood College, in St. Charles, MO, in 1988. Dave worked in the telecommunications industry for nearly 30 years, ending his career as the Site Director of the Murray Convergys campus, in Salt Lake City, UT. Although Dave was well-respected and accomplished in his career, he will best be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, as well as uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, friend, and neighbor. He was a devoted Catholic, who truly lived the true spirit of his religion. Many recipients of Dave's many "random acts of kindness" have been telling their individual stories to his family over the last few months. He was a lifelong fan of sports, supporting and cheering on the Mt. Pleasant Panthers and Iowa Hawkeyes, no matter where his state of residence. Dave is survived by his best friend and wife of 34 years, Kathleen Rose, of Farmington, UT; children, Aaron and Cara Rose, and their son, Liam, of Springfield, MO; Matt and Jennifer (Rose) Deadman and their daughter, Sophia, of Madison, WI; Lindsey Rose of Madison, WI; and Jonathan Rose of Davis, CA; as well as his parents, Loyd and Shirley Rose, of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his siblings, Michael and Barbara Rose and Mark and Theresa Rose, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and Terry and Christy (Rose) Strohman, of Des Moines, IA; as well as a number of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. His family would like to thank the medical team at Huntsman Cancer Institute for their wonderful care and compassion for Dave during the months of his illness.

"I really enjoyed working with Dave. He was always so down to earth and showed great respect for everyone on the team from the entry level people on up. I loved that he walked from building to building and enjoyed being outside. I remember the collection of golf balls on his desk he picked up on his walks - even though he didn't play golf. I know his family will miss him and I'm glad he got to experience his grandchildren. My best to all the family."

"I can remember the first time our families met. I especially remember Dave's warm and wonderful smile and his ease in facilitating conversation among all surrounding the dinner table. Both of our children -- our daughter Stephanie and Jonathan -- were so anxious and nervous, hoping that the evening would go well. And with great thanks to Dave's warmth and outgoing personality, it was truly a wonderful evening. Since that time Stephanie and Jonathan have followed their own paths but remain close. But for six years, we always felt that Stephanie was blessed to have such a wonderful family welcome her into their circle of love and happiness. Even though we did not share a lot of time together, we will forever be grateful for your kindness, your generosity, and your wonderful sense of making people feel welcome and appreciated. We will miss you. Our sincerest condolences to Kay; Aaron, Cara, and Liam; Lindsay; Jennifer, Matt, and Sophia; and especially to Jonathan."
