In loving memory of

LeRoy Turner
June 22, 1945 - July 22, 2020

Sunrise: June 22, 1945 Sunset: July 22, 2020

LeRoy Turner, Sr. was born on June 22, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the eldest child of James Turner and Dennie Turner Cleckley, who both preceded him in death. LeRoy, along with his sister Gwendolyn were reared in Detroit. He was a student of Detroit Public Schools where he was an enthusiastic athlete competing in basketball and track.

Early in his high school years he met the love of his life, Victoria. They were married and together welcomed four children: LeRoy Jr., Kevin, Nicola and Derrick (deceased). Much to his delight, he welcomed seven grandchildren: Courtney, Brittani, Raynard, Kaylex, Julian, Devin and Brandon and two great grandchildren, Noa and Olivia. LeRoy enjoyed family events and spending time with his family. He loved listening to music, reading, cooking outside, yardwork, shopping for all the clothes he loved, watching Jeopardy, CNN, and especially sports. As an avid fan of all sports, he was not happy during the Pandemic when live sports were discontinued.

After years of good health, LeRoy was sidelined by cancer. His usual gust for life was dampened and his illness took an obvious toll. God in his infinite wisdom called him home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He leaves to cherish his beloved Victoria, sons LeRoy and Kevin, daughter Nicola (Mark), grandchildren Cortney, Brittani (Arnoldo), Raynard, Kaylex, Julian, Devin, and Brandon, great grandchildren Noa and Olivia, sister Gwendolyn, niece Tara, favorite aunt Lurlene, uncle Pat, and a host of other family and friends. He will never be forgotten as each member will carry his memory in their heart.

At this time, due to the pandemic and LeRoy's wishes, the family has elected not to have a funeral or memorial. Perhaps, later when it is safe to gather, we will come together in his memory. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Salvation Army in LeRoy's name, as this was a place that made a positive influence on his life.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all family and friends for all their heartfelt condolences and sympathies.

Let some fall a purpose.
