May 13, 1923 - July 23, 2020
Bernice (Stein) Eisen passed away July 23, 2020 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born in St Louis, MO May 13, 1923 and lived the majority of
her early life in University City enjoying the good life with her older sisters Pauline and Naomi. Just before WWII she met and married Lou Eisen. After a tour of duty stateside, they moved across the Missisissippi River to Granite City, IL. Bernice and Lou had two daughters - Jan and Sherry. The Eisen clan were surrounded by grandparents and cousins on both sides of the river and both sides of the family. The family was deeply involved with United Hebrew Congregation in St Louis Bernice was active in the community, in activities as diverse as civic
organizations to cookie sale coordinator for the city. Meanwhile, Lou was part of the computer development team at Shell Oil. Shell Oil had
the family continually moving. After leaving Granite City, they moved to St. Louis for four years. Their next stop was Houston then New
Orleans and finally back to Houston. Each stop was generated by Lou's career advancement and totally supported by Bernice and their
daughters. After 40 years with Shell Oil, Lou took early retirement. Bernice and Lou devoted their time to Temple Emanu El, as officers in several organizations. Of course, there was always Little League games for their grandsons followed by Bar Mitzvahs and graduations.
Bernice was a sweet loving person with a kind word for everyone. After Lou sadly died, she lived in Houston for several years before moving to
Louisiana with her younger daughter. Bernice is survived by Jan (Arnold), Sherry (Robert), Neil (Nadia), Ryan
(Adriana), Kimberly (Brandon) and six Great Grandchildren: Lyla, Jake, Wyatt, Emma, Lane and Rob.

"So many tender and loving memories but most dear were those Shabbos Friday night dinner when Uncle Lou was in the Army and Aunt Bernice would come from work at Stix, Baer & Fuller to spend those Fridays with us. The picture I have in my mind of her is a beautiful young lady with an Andrew's Sisters hairdo. Gary Sokolik"
