He coached and played soccer, and loved skiing his way around the world. Stan was a huge fan of the Rolling Stones, playing Bridge and socializing with friends (often while enjoying his famous margaritas). After retirement, he became a Florida snowbird and spent many warm winters in Longboat Key, FL.

Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Ceinwen A. Schreiner. He was the dear father of Josh Ercole and his wife Molly, of Ambler, and Kyle Gadiel and his wife Alex, of Phoenixville. He was the loving grandfather of Campbell Ercole.

"I met Stan in 1967. He was the best man when I married Frank Roselione in 1968. I have many fond and happy memories of Stan. He was like a brother to me. There are so many good things I could say about Stan, he was kind, smart, funny, a good friend and I loved him dearly. The one picture is Stan with Frank. The other picture is of all of us with a ?friendship? quilt I made from calendar towels that Stan gave me every Christmas since 1978. Fond memories continued to be made when he married Ceinwen. Ceinwen made Stan very happy and Stan loved his family very much. Rest In Peace dear friend I miss you terribly. "

"Lorraine and Larry send our sincerest condolences to Ceinwen and family at Stan's sudden passing. As a former colleague and current friend of Ceinwen, I didn't know Stan very well since we met briefly at meetings in locations with good golfing that appealed to Stan. But even if I knew absolutely nothing about Stan, I know he was a wonderful person since he made my friend Ceinwen so happy that positively shined from their very first meeting. I deeply share your loss in my heart Ceinwen, and think about you and Stan quite often. Both Larry and I are happy that we shared a bit of your lives and happiness together through Larry's writing hobby. As an updated version of Bertie and Jeeves might have said to you Ceinwen, 'Stay Strong and Carry On!' Easy to say, I know, but difficult to execute at this difficult time. We are glad you have many friends and family to support you, Ceinwen, including Lorraine & Larry Twerdok"

"Over the years, I usually went to lunch or dinner with Stan every time I went to Blue Bell for Unisys. We have a favorite cheesesteak place called Charlie's. Back in those days, he was a bachelor. After he got married, he and Ceinwen had me over for dinner one night. A few years back, my wife and I stopped and had lunch with him in Plymouth Meeting. We were driving back from a family reunion in upstate New York. Ceinwen couldn't join us as she was one of the offering counters at their church. Will miss Stan vary much... Phil Dolinger"

"So sorry to hear about Stan?s passing, he will be missed. I really enjoyed getting to know him as part of our regular golf group on Saturdays. Not a round went by when Stan would hit a shot ?he has never done before? and typically found a way to shoot a good score and take our money. He was so proud of the family and always willing to share a story or 2 during the round, I feel like we got a chance to know you all. Please accept my condolences, John Miles "

"Being 5 yrs younger, I probably knew Stan the least amongst our fraternity golf gang, but if I feel the loss this strongly, I can't imagine how large the hole he left amongst those close to him for years. The Padre always carried a presence, and I will miss him. To those dear to him, I am dearly sorry for your loss. Randy Flynn"

"To the Gadiel Family, My name is Dennis Reilly and I am a fraternity brother of Stan. We met in 1967 when Stan was a brother and I was a pledge. Stan was older than most of us and became a confidant and mentor. We grew to be good friends over the years and Stan was in my wedding party. He also attended my military retirement party in 1996. In recent years we have kept in touch and played golf together, along with several fraternity reunions with other brothers. I am deeply sorry that Stan passed away at such a young age. He was loved and respected by all of us and he will be greatly missed. I know he is with the Lord because he was "the Padre" to all of us. Please accept our prayers and condolences in your time of sorrow. Warm regards, Karen and Dennis Reilly Class of 1967-Kappa Chapter "

"I hadn't been in contact with Stan since my days at Temple and he was working at RCA. Nonetheless, the times we did chat were stimulating and developed a bond. He was a good man. Rest in peace my friend and Sigma Pi brother. A wonderful, good man. Stan is an example we should all emulate. I miss him."

Glenn Emery wrote on Jul 29, 2020:

"What a joyful photo of Stan leading a toast at some gathering where his smiling face and engaging demeanor entertained everyone. As a U.S. Navy veteran he completed his service to our nation before he attended Temple University and, lucky for us, he decided to become a member of our fraterinity, Sigma Pi. Since his tour in the Navy made him more ?chronologically gifted? then most of us, we looked to him for advice. He often took it upon himself to preach his words of wisdom to the lunchtime gatherings at the Fraternity House. His hilarious and somewhat irreverent guidance resulted in his nickname, The Padre...with a capital ?T? in his words. Indeed, we were all blessed to have him in our presence for over 50 years. Rest In Peace Padre."
