February 4, 1927 - August 12, 2020
Grace Augusta Manning was born in Natchez, MS on February 4, 1927 to Robert and Grace Manning of Waterproof, LA. She died peacefully at home on August 12, 2020. Grace taught school after graduating from college and later was involved in different business endeavors. She divided her time between Colorado Springs, CO and Dallas, TX, later moving permanently to Dallas. Grace traveled extensively and enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places. She was a delight to her family and friends.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her son Charles Van Lopik, her brother Robert W. Manning, Jr., her half-sister Tallula Breniman, and her sister-in-law Barbara Manning. She is succeeded by her niece, Jan Sample and her nephew, Robert W. Manning, lll, his wife, Cece, great-nephews Will (Mary) and Paul (Kristin) Manning, Knighton (Alice) and Grey Sample and their children.
The family would like to thank EnCompass Hospice who provided comfort and support, Philishia Pearson of Aging Gracefully, and to all her wonderful caregivers. A special thanks goes to Minnie Crawford and Earl Pemberton, long-time family friends and caretakers who were unwavering in their love and protection of Grace for many years. She truly considered Minnie and Earl her extended family.
A private graveside service for the family will be held in Natchez, MS. A Celebration of Life will be held in Dallas at a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Feeding America or the charity of your choice.
