Michael Joseph Palladino, Sr.

Michael J. Palladino, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2020. Age 97. Formerly of Gloucester Twp.

Beloved husband of the late Bette A. (nee Descano). Devoted father of Elizabethe A. Palladino, Patricia M. Ludwig, Michael J. Palladino, Jr. (Rita), Robert C. Palladino, Sr. (Diana), and Lisa M. Edgar (Mark). Loving Pop Pop of Dominic III, Anthony, Michael, Melissa, Michael, Kristie, Robert Jr., Louis, Rick, Mark Jr., and Blake. Proud Great Grandfather of Dominic IV, Adriana, Madi, Ella, Harper, Sloane, and Wesley. Dear brother of Nicholas Palladino (Teresa) and the late Richard Palladino. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Michael was born in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia to the late Nicholas and Julia (nee Prete) Palladino. After graduating from Overbrook High School, Michael went on to serve in the US Army during WWII. Serving under General Patton in the 12th Armored Division as a Tech Sergeant, Michael actively served in both the Rhineland Campaign - infamously known for its terrible weather - and the Central Europe Campaign. Michael was a member of the "Hellcats", a nickname given to the division symbolizing its toughness and readiness for combat. This division is remembered for its ferocious advance across southern Germany and is recognized for being a liberating element of the Kaufering concentration camp.

Upon returning to the US, he studied engineering at Texas A&M University and Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University), earning a BS in Industrial Engineering. In 1950 Michael married Bette, the love of his life. Soon after they moved to Magnolia, NJ where they raised their family. Michael had a long career with the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia. He began in 1952 as a draftsman and rose to the position of Director of Applied Technology and retired in 1977. He then began his second career as a professor at Camden County College teaching AutoCad.

As an active member of his community, Michael spent many years coaching baseball with Catalina Hills Little League in Magnolia, NJ and the Babe Ruth League in Runnemede. Michael was also a member of St. Gregory's RC Church where he volunteered and ushered Sunday Mass. Michael enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer. Michael will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who loved him.

There will be a viewing from 10:15am to 11:15am on Saturday, August 29th at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral Mass 12 noon Holy Child Parish, St. Teresa RC Church, Runnemede.

Interment is private.

"All my love and sympathy to the Palladino family, my cousins Michael Jr,. Betty Ann, Tricia, Robert and Lisa, and their families. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. My "Uncle Mike" was an amazing, bright, intelligent and accomplished man. He was articulate and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to converse with him on just about any topic. God bless Uncle Mike.
