Beverly's journey began on September 20, 1929, born to Ed and Joy (Boatwright) Stravers in Grimes, IA. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1947. On September 24, 1947 she married her lifelong partner, Oliver Wayne Elrod at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Their life adventure together lasted over 62 years. Beverly worked as a bookkeeper for the Prairie City School district, as a clerk at Banker's Life, and was a licensed hair stylist. But, she felt her most important job was as a wife and mother. Beverly was in Heaven on earth when she was surrounded by family. She was an expert baker, candy maker, crocheter, and hugger.

Those left to honor her memory and carry on her legacy include her children; Ronald Wayne Elrod, Stephen Milton(Darbi) Elrod, Bruce Edward (LaDonna) Elrod, and Audra Lorene (Rik) Goodell; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Waiting for her at her Heavenly home were her parents, husband, Oliver, a sister, Betty Howse; a brother, Lawrence Stravers; and two grandchildren, Brian Sellner and Kenneth Elrod.

Your mission is complete, Mom. Congratulations!!!

"I had an honor of caring for her at Vriendschap Village. She was a living spit fire. We would sit and laugh for hours. Always held my hand anywhere we went, thanked me for anything I?d do for her, and would light up every time I walked it and was ready to go where I was. We truly had a special bond that I am so grateful for. I will miss her so much but I am glad she is at peace with the Lord ??"

"What a wonderful lady she was. I worked many years with her at Bankers Life. I still have her salted caramel recipe. Your mother was a great person."

"My heart goes out to the family at the news of Beverly's passing. I remember many Sunday nights watching baseball with the family while eating popcorn and apples. I believe that she and Bruce enjoyed those games. Her heart was loving, her desserts melted in your mouth, her crafts were made with love and had a beautiful and delicate nature to them. She spent many hours traveling with Oliver as he conducted his business. I believe that she is now in the presence of her Lord Jesus and in Oliver's arms as well. I can imagine the celebration as she was surrounded by her loved ones in heaven especially Ed and Joy, Brian and Ken. "
