Donna Marie Gillis
July 21, 1928 - August 20, 2020

On Thursday, August 20, 2020, Donna Marie Gillis, beloved sister, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed quietly from this life at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gene Gillis, her dear son, Tom Gillis, and her great granddaughter, Tabitha Riddell. Our feelings of loss are tempered by the thought of their reunion. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Donna was born on July 21,1928 in Boone County, Iowa, to Donald Reutter and Mabel (Hedblom) Reutter. She was the second of their fifteen children.

Donna met Gene Gillis while she was working in Washington, D.C. and they were married in Dayton, Iowa on January 1, 1949. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage, and together raised seven children. They settled in Seattle, Washington where they founded Gillis Jewelers and Gillis Clock and Watch which continues to serve the community to this day. Donna loved her family and her work and she was loved by her employees and her customers!

Her grandchildren -- Chris (Margaret) Riddell, Heather Riddell, Ali (Jared) Howell, Kristina (Erik) Soballe, Jenni (George) Graham, Chad (Brooke) Gillis, Jeff (Emily) Gillis, Katie Gillis (Phil Bing), Stephen (Tanya) Gillis, Bryce Gillis, Brett Gillis, Brock Gillis, Megan (Keith) Weed, Gretchen Gillis, Chelsea Gillis, Zach Pritchett, Hunter Gillis and Catalina Gillis

Her great grandchildren -- Hailey Riddell, Alex Riddell, Ethan Riddell, Christian Riddell, London Howell, Camden Howell, Addie Howell, Andolyn Howell, Charlotte Soballe, Clara Soballe, Brayden Graham, Natalie Graham, Camden Gillis, Logan Gillis, Owen Gillis, Levi Gillis, Kaylie White, Paul White, Madison Bing, Colt Gillis and Britton Gillis

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Dorothy Davidson, Rosella Gordon, and Darlene Reutter, and her brothers: Ronald Reutter and Robert Reutter. She will be missed by her living siblings: Marjorie (Ken) Peterson, Marilyn (Jerry) Stumbo, Roberta (Roy) Clausen, Geraldine (Barry) Martin, Marlene Rabern, Larry (Jackie) Reutter, Leo Reutter, Gene Reutter and Gary (Vicki) Reutter, and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Reutter and Janice Reutter.

There will be a Celebration of Donna's Life on Sunday, August 30th.
