Berdena J. Beyer
April 1, 1926 - August 29, 2020

Berdena Jeanetta Beyer, age 94 of Prairie City, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Parkridge Speciality Care in Pleasant Hill. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 11:00 am at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Public Viewing/Visitation will take place Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:45 am at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church or the Prairie City Church of the Brethren. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com



The daughter of Walter and Jenny (Bos) Schut, Berdena was born on April 1, 1926 in rural Prairie City. She graduated from 8th grade and was able to take a couple of high school courses, before having to discontinue her education to help on the family farm. On September 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Beyer in rural Prairie City. Berdena lived the majority of her life in Prairie City and Colfax areas. She was a lifetime member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church. When John and Berdena purchased their farm they worked together, along with their boys, to make it a success. She also worked for Iowa Parcel Service, Meals on Wheels and Hewitt's Service Center in Monroe. She loved gardening, music and preparing meals for family and friends.


Those left to honor her memory include her son, David (Linda) Beyer; grandchildren, Terry (Jennifer) Beyer, Rick Beyer, Danny (Kacey) Beyer and Bryan (Alexis) Beyer; and her great grandchildren, Colton and Jacey Beyer, Chase and Dylan Beyer, Isabella and Tabitha Beyer and Olivia and Jocelyn Beyer. Preceding Berdena in death were her parents, husband, John, son, Harold and his wife Sandy Beyer and a brother and sister-in-law, Jacob and Bertha Schut.
