"I had the pleasure to meet Sofia at the University of Illinois, in two classes, as an instructor. A dedicated student, she always seemed invested in her work and with so much passion she quickly blossomed. Often gathering surprising ideas, I was always eager to discover her creative response as she presented her designs. She striked me as a student with a mature and pleasant personality, not to mention her good sense of humor. She will be greatly missed! May she rest in peace. "To Sofia?s family, Words fail to capture the diversity of surprises Sofia provided to classmates at the University. Her contrasting strength and wispy presence marveled us as she calculated numbers and presented details with her dry sense of humor. I think of her with a tearful smile as I remember her grace, kindness and unassuming demeanor. Only Sofia could seamlessly integrate cartoon characters into section drawings! Thank you for sharing her with us. Her memory will always serve as a reminder of the elegance of simplicity and restraint. May your memories offer you comfort in the days to come.
