In loving memory of

Andi Pathoulas
June 21, 1936 - August 30, 2020

Andi (Andigone) Chafos Pathoulas, died peacefully Sunday, August 30, 2020 at her home due to complications of dementia.

Born June 21, 1936 in Rochester, MN, to Andrew K. and Margaret A. Chafos. She was the middle of 5 children and grew up in SE Rochester. She attended Hawthorn Elementary School, Central Jr. High and graduated from Rochester High School in 1954. She loved her friends and memories of growing up in Rochester.

Andi married Nick Pathoulas on September 2, 1956 and later divorced. While married to Nick, she and her husband owned Outskirts Bar-B-Que which later became Nick's Ribs and Other Good Things, Inc from 1976-1990. During her years in the restaurant business she was the hostess, cashier and well known for her homemade desserts. When not seating people, Andi could be found cradling a crying baby so the parents could enjoy their meal.

In her later years, she found joy in caring for her aging mother. Andi loved to gather every Wednesday afternoon at Grandma's Kitchen for coffee with her friends, many of whom were grade school classmates. She loved playing cards and bingo with her friends at "The Home", Fontaine Towers, and attending Rochester High School reunions, always showing up in her red and black school colors. Andi was very proud of her 6 grandchildren and loved to tell the story of going from 0-6 grandchildren in less than 2 years.

Survivors include son, Tom (Karen) Pathoulas of Mantorville, MN; daughter, Kula (Tom) Shives of Rochester; six grandchildren: James Pathoulas of Boston, MA, Nick Pathoulas of Palo Alto, CA, Joe Pathoulas and Chris Pathoulas of Farmington, CT, Ariana Shives of Seal Beach, CA, and T Connor Shives of Denver, CO; sister, Nikki (Robert) Stephanopoulos of Cleveland, OH; two brothers, Gus Chafos of Rochester, and Pete (Angie) Chafos of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kal Stanley.

Our family is grateful for our mother's many friends and especially Lynn N. who provided great support, helping her remain in her home.

Due to COVID, a private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in memory of Andi be made to: The Center Clinic, 14 W Main St. Dodge Center, MN 55927. Or, Women's Health at Mayo Clinic. Checks may be made to "Mayo Clinic", with a memo regarding designation, and mailed to: Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905.

"Andy was 1-year older than me. I lived 2 houses South of her. We played together many times. One of our fun games the neighborhood kids played was hide-&-go-seek. The home base was the light pole on the corner next to her house. I remember her sister, Gloria as we new her, beat the dickens out of a bully that lived on 3rd ave. He never showed up again after that. You-all have my sincere sympathy. "
