In loving memory of

Mary Jo McNamara
August 3, 1935 - September 3, 2020

Mary Jo McNamara, beloved mother and wife, died peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at her home in Maple Glen.

She was born August 3, 1935 in Kingston, PA to Joseph and Helen Kelly Gallagher.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph in August of 2013. She is the proud and loving mother of seven children: Ellen Lee (Ray) of Maple Glen; Michelle Melissen (Carl) of Chestnut Hill; Kathleen Tenzinger (George) of Ambler; Mary Jo McNamara of Royersford; Joseph McNamara (Stacy) of Summit, NJ; Michael McNamara (Carrie) of Wayne; and Tim McNamara (Kristen) of Jenkintown. She is the dear grandmother of 19, aunt to many and treasured sister-in-law of Erin Gallagher. Preceding her in death were sisters Ellen White, Jean Gallagher and her brother Jim Gallagher.

Mary Jo graduated from Kingston High School and Misericordia College. She was a devoted homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mary Jo was a faithful parishioner at St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen and St. Joseph Church in Sea Isle City, NJ. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Women's Auxiliary and both the LaSalle & Mount Saint Joseph Mothers' Club. Mary Jo was a number one fan of the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol, Villanova basketball and for any crew team her children and grandchildren rowed.

Mary Jo's favorite place was her Pink House in Sea Isle City and her happiest times were with her toes in the sand working the Inquirer crossword, floating in the bay or enjoying another spectacular sunset surrounded by family and friends. She was known for ugly sweaters (Christmas or any holiday) long before the trend. Although not renowned for her driving skills, she loved to escape in her convertible du jour.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mary Jo's Funeral Mass Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Alphonsus Church, 1565 Temple Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002, with the Rev. Msgr. Brian P. Hennessy as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont. All are reminded that social distancing will be observed at all times and every person will be required to wear masks.

Donations in her name to LaSalle College High School, 8605 W Cheltenham Ave, Wyndmoor, PA 19038 https://www.lschs.org would be appreciated by the family.

"To the McNamara family, We are truly sad for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are frequent for those who suffer due to the anguish of losing a loved one. We all experience this loss but the Bible teaches that soon death will end at Revelations 7:15-17. The scriptures have provided comfort for the loved ones I've lost and show what God's plan is for those who have passed. Take peace and hope that Jehovah provides. The video below gives comfort from the Bible and about the end of death. bit.ly/Deathjworg"
