Keota- Richard Clark "RC" Smith was born January 17, 1979 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Gerald Clark & Violet Rae (Knerr) Smith. He graduated from English Valley High School in 1997 and later graduated from Truman State University with his master's degree in education. He recently worked as a title & mortgage processor for Washington Title & Guaranty Co. RC was a member of the English River Church of the Brethren, near South English. He enjoyed playing board games and cards, watching movies, collecting comic books and star trek/wars novelties, reading, visiting his friends in Columbia and playing with his cat Bubba. RC died on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 41 years.
He is survived by his parents Gerry & Violet Smith of Keota; a sister Heather (Randy) Williams of Harper; a niece Ann Smith of Keota; a nephew Elisha Williams of Harper; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded by his grandparents, two aunts and an uncle.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the English River Church of the Brethren, near South English. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powelfuneralhomes.com. Social distancing will be practiced and masks are recommended.
