August 21, 1921 - September 14, 2020

Ervin Ficken, 99, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at the Mercy One Hospital in West Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Ervin was born August 21, 1921 to Arthur and Bertha (Probst) Ficken in rural Rhodes, IA. He attended rural State Center schools. Ervin served his country in the United State Marines during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was united in marriage to Anna Beikert on March 10, 1950  in rural Greene, IA Ervin farmed his entire life on the family farm with his brothers in rural Melbourne. He was a member of Newton Christian Reformed Church in Newton, IA. Ervin enjoyed traveling and camping. One of he and Anna's favorite trips was to Alaska where they visited to Mt. Mckinley.

Ervin will be missed by a daughter, Carol (Bernie) Mauk of Pleasant Hill, IA; four grandchildren: Ryan (Elisha), Rebecca, Renee, and Kara; two step grandchildren, Jamison and Lyndsay; five great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Wilma) Ficken of Newton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Hewas preceded in death by his wife, Anna, two sons, Randy in 2011 and Richard in infancy, three sisters, and three brothers.

"I was fostered by the ficken's briefly at age 11,and have thought of my time spent with them many time's. Ervin was a great roll model and I enjoyed working with him out on the farm. I had made contact with him over the past year and was sad to hear of his passing. "
