Gertrude Elsen
April 20, 1927 - September 16, 2020

Gertrude E. Elsen, 93, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
Private family graveside services will be held at Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Survivors include her son Jim (Mary) Elsen of Yankton, SD, daughter Carol (David) Duckett of Fort Dodge, daughter-in-law Kathy Elsen of Osceola, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister Mary Buda of CA and her fur babies Ben and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lucy (Chock) Hanson, son John Elsen, grandson Adam Duckett, husband Herman Elsen, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Gertrude Ellen Hanson was born on April 20, 1927 in Fort Dodge. She attended schools at Sacred Heart. On February 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to Herman Elsen and the couple established their home in Clare and later Barnum. In the early 1980's the couple moved to Woodburn near Osceola, where they owned and operated Osceola Plastics. She enjoyed fishing, bingo, FOX News and going to casinos. In her retirement she spent winters in Texas and loved time spent with her family.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

"My fondest memories are laying upstair and listening to Aunt Gert and mom talking and laughing. I will miss our visit and phone calls and sharing stories. This Covid stuff robbed us of our visits.
