Kathy Jo Blayer
February 22, 1966 - September 20, 2020

Kathy Jo Blayer, 54, of Coulter, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020, at her home in Coulter. She was born on February 22, 1966, in Oelwein, to Jerry and Diana (Jamison) Collins.

Kathy graduated from Oelwein High School. She previously worked for Solid Gold Diner in North Liberty, Meskwaki Casino in Tama, Out South Restaurant in Iowa Falls and Winnebago in Hampton. Kathy loved to waitress and meet people; she had a gift to gab.

Kathy married Richard Blayer on June 12, 1996, in Tama. She loved antiquing, decorating the house, working with her flowers, and listening to loud rock music wherever she was.

Kathy is survived by her husband Richard Blayer of Coulter, son JD Ball of Mason City, son Austin Blayer of Bloomington, Minnesota, granddaughters Vivienne and Lynlee, father Jerry Collins of Independence, sister Kim Collins of Blaine, Minnesota, sister Kristi Reeder of Independence, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Diana and brother Kevin.


Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Private family services will be held with burial in the Dumont Cemetery.

"My shock at learning of Kathy's death soon became an abiding sadness. She will be missed. We spoke on the phone fairly often and we enjoyed visits here in the last year- and were anticipating more.
