"I really enjoyed getting together with my cousins to celebrate Uncle Roy's birthday. We met at the Adelphia and enjoyed the celebrations. When I started attending these lunches it had been quite a few years since I had been in touch with my cousins, yet I had some very good memories of visits from childhood. Susan had been the flower girl at my mother's wedding and I had seen pictures which I always enjoyed. My grandfather, Ernest Samuel Kurtz was the brother of Aunt Edna and Aunt Frieda and my sister Beverly and I had a wonderful several days vacationing on Aunt Edna's farm and playing with Janet, Linda, and Charlie when we were all very young. They would visit Ocean City to see their Uncle Ernie and sometimes we were there as well. And George and Rita Hamell and Clarence and Betty Rever attended my wedding too. It was so nice that after quite a few years, the feelings of home and a welcoming family were always part of the celebration. And Uncle Roy's warm greetings and enjoyment of these happy get togethers would help me recall happy memories of my own grandparents and mother. Denise (DeeDee) Kubaska"

"I have many memories of Roy. He visited me often, and he never came empty handed. I always got a hug and a package of cookies, a box of donuts or a pie. He would tell me of his recent adventures and I would just shake my head and laugh. My favorite memory, was the day he brought me a 8X10 "Autographed" picture of him in his uniform. I laughed and asked him why he signed it, he said, "So you remember me". I told him I would always remember him, he was one of a kind. He was a loving, caring stepfather to Joyce and me. He will be sadly missed."

"Susan, Roy and James- Roy was a good friend going back many years. He will be missed. He was a life member of the Legion and was one of the original members of our Honor Guard and a few years back was awarded the Honor Guard member of the year. He use to maintain the mail box we use for flag drop off for old flags. He was very proud of his Legion and especially his Honor Guard."
