Donald Edward Petrie,Jr.
November 28, 1948 - September 22, 2020

Donald Edward Petrie Jr. passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with PSP on September 22, 2020.

He was born November 28,1948 to Donald Petrie Sr. and Frances Petrie in Muskegon, MI. He graduated from Holton High School class of 1967. He Graduated from Muskegon Community College with an Associates of Art and Science. He joined the Navy right out of High School proudly serving his Country in Vietnam. Post Navy he joined Dalton Township fire Department. He reached the rank of Assistant Chief serving as acting Chief. He retired from the fire service after 17 years. He mentored numerous fire fighters throughout his career. He enjoyed training and sharing his knowledge.

He was highly active in his community as a volunteer for Twin Lake Civic Association, American Legion Post 397 in Holton, MI, his daughters Girl Scout troop, and the Fire Fighter Explorers.

He worked at Howmet, Bud's Ambulance, Agard's and Walmart. He was a jack of all trades having numerous side jobs. Including an HVAC business with his Dad.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, storytelling, NASCAR, and most recently spending time with family on his son's farm.

He is survived by his mother Frances Petrie, his children James (Sondrea) Petrie of Hesperia MI, Rachael (Mason) Brown of Hanna IN, and Donald Petrie III of Manton MI. By his sisters Barb Skuse and Linda (Denis) Cory, sister in law Linda Barnard. Grandchildren James Petrie Jr, Charles (Kateri) Petrie, Heather (Tyler) Cooley, Kaitlyn (Anthony) Visger, Logan Petrie, Liam Brown, Naomi Brown, and Avery Brown. He enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren Taryn, Charley Claire, Elijah, Calum, Jaeger and Declan. And his Godson Caleb Henry. Also many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Carolyn Petrie, Father Donald Petrie Sr., his father and mother in law Jim and Ardis Melville, brother in law Dan Barnard, two children Angela Renee and Edward Scott. He will be missed by numerous family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Blue Lake Community Church on October 10th. Visitation starting 10am and services at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Muskegon Harbor Hospice or Forgotten Eagles chapter 5.
