Shirley Ann Wade
March 12, 1936 - October 4, 2020

South English- Shirley Ann Wade was born March 12, 1936 in Keokuk County, Iowa the daughter of Richard Morrell and Hazel Irene (McMaster) Strausser. She attended North English High School. She was united in marriage to Duane Olson Sr., he passed away in June 1969. Shirley later married David C. Wade on April 19, 1970 in Marengo. She was a homemaker, cook and worked at the University of Iowa as a custodian. Shirley was member of the North English United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the UMW. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards at the community center, gardening, canning, sewing, genealogy, roller skating and spending time with her family. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley died on Sunday, October 4, 2020 surrounded by loved ones, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell at the age of 84 years.

She is survived by her husband David of South English; a son Duane Olson Jr. of Marengo, a daughter Donna (Kirk) Gunderson of Montezuma and a son David Bradley "Brad" (Jackie) Wade of Altoona; grandchildren Branden (Amy) Martinson, Haylee (David) Crawford, Dusty Olson, Brandy (Brent) Nelson, Caleb Wade , Joshua Wade, Ally Gunderson, Keegan Gunderson, Lynkin Gunderson and Raxton Gunderson; five great grandchildren Amaya Nelson, Payten Martinson, Ashlyn Nelson, Camryn Crawford and Khloe Crawford; and a sister Mary Wolf of Deep River. She was preceded by her parents; 1st husband Duane; a daughter Debra Olson-Martinson; three sisters Betty Grier, Elsie Nelson and Evelyn Morse; and a brother Clint Strausser.

Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00- 8:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Memorials may be given to the North English United Methodist Church or the Iowa County Genealogy Society.
