Susan Ruth Stewart Brenner
January 14, 1947 - October 9, 2020

Susan Ruth Stewart Brenner, age 73, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at her home in Grosse Pointe Woods, surrounded by dear friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 14, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to the late James and the late Ruth (née: Scheldenbran) Stewart.
Susan was raised in Harper Woods and graduated from Harper Woods high school. Susan went on to pursue her passion for teaching by obtaining a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. She moved back to Harper Woods and became a fourth-grade teacher at the elementary school. Susan was dedicated to her student success and always strived to get the full potential out of each and every one of them. even after Susan retired, she still was a "teacher" to many.
Susan loved adventure. She traveled many places within the United States and Europe. She loved collecting memorabilia from the places she went as well as Angels and antiques. Susan will be remembered as always lending a helping hand where needed and her contributions to society will be greatly missed. She was a huge animal and nature lover, enjoying the springtime visit by the backyard ducks, her monarch butterflies and her precious dogs Buffy and Maxi that preceded her in death.
Susan was the loving wife of the late James Brenner.
Visitation for Susan will be held on Tuesday, October 13 from 12 noon to 4 PM at Chas Verheyden Inc. 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park MI 48230. A funeral liturgy will be held for Susan on Wednesday, October 14 at 10 AM at Saint Clare of Montefalco, 1401 Whittier Rd., Grosse Pointe Park MI 48230.
