Isabelle Joan Banks
June 7, 1931 - October 17, 2020

Isabelle "Joan" Banks, 89, of McCallsburg, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Her memorial service will follow and will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, Iowa.
Joan was born on June 7, 1931 in Fernald, Iowa to Owen and Marjorie (Tillotson) Oxley. She attended school in Fernald until 6th grade then she went to Nevada High School. Following school, on June 29, 1949 she married Laurence Banks Jr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple moved to McCallsburg and where they began their family together. Joan was a homemaker and took great care of her kids and also operated and ran Banks Café in McCallsburg. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She had a great love for her kids and enjoyed spending time with them. Her grandkids and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed reading, going on walks, cooking, baking, reading cookbooks, sewing, cuddling and feeding her dog, eating popcorn, watching soap operas, Sunday dinners, watching the Grand Ole Opry, going to rodeo's, and wearing her pajamas.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Connie Woster of McCallsburg, IA, Cindy (Denny) Cairns of Maxwell, IA, and Shari (Gene) Richardson of McCallsburg, IA; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Wanda Barnett of Phoenix, AZ, Leona Maxine Fry of Mulberry, AR, Janice (Max) Dobson of Nevada, IA, and Pauline Breer of Colo, IA; brother Don (Bev) Oxley of Rhodes, IA; brothers-in-law Jerry Banks and Harry Amenson; sister-in-law Betty Coffman; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurence Jr., son Larry (Boze) Banks, son-in-law Carroll Woster, infant brother Owen, brother Howard, sisters Kathryn Amenson and Nancy Weatherman, 6 brothers-in-law, and 3 sisters-in-law.
