Duane Kroseman
August 4, 1944 - October 21, 2020

Duane Kroseman passed away from Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) on October 21, 2020 in Rochester, Minnesota.

Duane was born Aug 4, 1944 in Baldwin, WI to Donald and Dorothy (Manor) Kroseman. He graduated from Elmwood, WI High School in 1962 and from the University of WI-Eau Claire in 1966.

Duane taught high school in Shawano and Edgar, WI for 3 years after his college graduation and married Karen Rostad from Colfax, ND in April 1969. Later that year, Duane and Karen moved to Ankara, Turkey where they both taught for the Department of Defense Overseas School system (DODEA). After one year in Turkey, they moved to Germany where Duane taught at Zweibrucken HS and Karlsruhe HS.

Returning to the States in 1977, Duane earned Masters' Degrees in Computer Science and Counseling at Washington State University and worked for 3 years at Rockwell Corporation in Cedar Rapids, IA.

In 1982, Duane and Karen returned to Germany to teach at Wiesbaden High School, Aukamm Elementary School and the DoDEA Distance Learning School. Karen passed away in 1988 and Duane married Christine Havlik of Portland, OR in 1997. They were married in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Duane retired in 2009 after teaching for 35 years with DODEA. Duane loved coaching, and during his teaching years, he coached over 40 sports seasons. He coached soccer, basketball, football, volleyball, cross country, and tennis.

Duane traveled extensively, visiting 51 countries and 45 states. He is survived by his wife, Chris; one daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Swanson of Rochester, MN; one son, Jeffery of Palm Springs, CA; one sister, Kathy Leis of Rochester, MN; two brothers, Roger of Rochester, MN and Jerry (Bernie) of Superior, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen, his parents and one brother, Larry.
