Robert "Bob" S. Szumski
December 19, 1937 - October 21, 2020
Robert Stanley Szumski, at the age of 82, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2020, at Milestone Senior Living/Memory Care Facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, to Stanley and Frances Szumski. Bob is survived by Ursela Szumski, his wife of 43 years; son, David (James Carfagno); daughter, Susan; sister, Joyce (Ken) Klohn; cousin-in-crime, Janice (Matt) Tomlin. In addition to a niece, nephews, grandnieces and many other cousins.
Bob has been cremated and resides on the fireplace mantle until such time as he can be taken to the East Coast for a Celebration of Life and spreading of his ashes.
Bob attended Villanova University, Pennsylvania, for a year, then decided to join the Air Force (1956-60). He was an A2C(P) (E-3), Radio Repairman and Electronics Instructor. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Marketing at Monmouth College, New Jersey, in 1970 as an evening student. He joined the Naval Air Reserves (1978-1995) and retired as a Chief Naval Officer (ATC, E-7) and a P3 In-Flight Technician/Crew Chief. In between, Bob held many positions from Electronics Technician to Technical Writer to Computer Software Consultant to Real Estate. Was a multi-talented man who couldn't decide "what I want to be when I grow up!"
On August 24, 1987, Bob was raised into the Order of Freemasonry by the North Houston Morning Lodge, Texas. Was a Past Master of the former St. Bernard's Lodge in 1991 and when that was dissolved became a member of United Brethren Masonic Lodge, Marlborough, Massachusetts. Bob also attained his 32nd Degree as a Scottish Rite Mason.
Bob loved to travel. Always said he wanted to be "homeless" and travel around in a motor home. Loved the Navy and flying in the P3 Orion Aircraft. Took flying lessons, but got a mortgage instead of a plane. As much as he loved big planes, he preferred model trains as a hobby. Had a train layout in his mind, but Alzheimer's took that away from him.
