Ardell Rowland
January 14, 1929 - November 5, 2020

Ardell Gene Rowland, age 91, of Grand Haven passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 5, 2020. He was born January 14, 1929 in Dawson, Minnesota to Merle and Maggie (Wilroth) Rowland. He was the third of fourteen children.
Ardell (Al) proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion - Ludington and Grand Haven posts, the Eagles and the Amvets.
Al worked as a Machinist at Gardner Denver for over thirty years and was a member of the IAM. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, raising calves and pigmy goats, and planting a large garden every spring. In addition, he enjoyed hunting, traveling, boating and wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida for many years. He also loved listening to country music. But what was most important to him was spending time with his family. Al will be remembered and dearly missed by children: Pam (Ed) Tysman, Kevin (Brenda) Rowland, Shelly Scripps, and Kraig Rowland along with grandchildren: Kevin (Amy) Rowland, Chris (Denise) Rowland, Brandon Land, Lauren (Luke) Novak, Amy Romanelli (fiancé Cody Vanderslute) and Ryan Kline, great-grandchildren AunaLeiha and Anya Land, Mila and Elsie Novak, Ava Romanelli, and Greyson and Myles Rowland. He is survived by sisters Elva Senske, Eunice Gasow, Mavis Siewert, Lorna Kuphal, Mary (Ken) Waterman of Minnesota and Sharon (Lance) Larson of South Dakota, and brother Alan (Laurie) Rowland of Minnesota. He is also survived by his life partner Mary Rezny and son, Wayne Rezny, and special friend, Frances Wagner. Al was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Marlys Rowland, Joyce Borchert, Kathy Knacke, Lois Frauendienst, Linda Wallender, and brother Arlo Rowland.
A private service will be held to celebrate Al's life.
