"I worked with Evelyn at Mercy Hospital and after marrying my first husband we lived on a acreage out west of Clare. I had never had a license to drive and Evelyn, who had taken me under her wing, became a good friend. My husband dropped me off to spend the day with her when he went to work one day. It was my day off. Her sister, who had recently moved from California to live back here, was studying or her drivers license. They convinced me to take it too, though I had very little driving experience other than my drivers training course I had taken in high school. My father did not feel girls needed to drive. (Their husband could drive them.)We both took the test and then drove. I passed but she didn't. We had a big chuckle over that. I remarried and moved to Wisconsin in 1982. We stayed in touch at first but hadn't talked with her for several years. She was a very special person in my life. Loving and so kind. May God be with you all during this difficult time. Stay safe."

"Your parents were good friends of my parents, Mary and Bill Collins. Your mom was such a great source of strength and support for my mom after dad passed away in 2016. I remember one time I was home visiting and took mom out for errands. When we got back, your mom was coming around the corner of the house. She became concerned when my mom hadn't been at the Marian Home for mass that morning and wasn't answering her phone so she got into her car and drove over to check on her. She told us she was on her hands and knees trying to see into the basement windows to make sure my mom hadn't fallen. God Bless your mom! Sheila Collins Wayson"
