Douglas (Doug) Walter Petersen 62, of Gladbrook IA passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020. He was born to Walter and Neva (Ehrig) Petersen on June 7, 1958 in Grundy Center, IA. Doug was baptized on October 12, 1958 at the Salem Federated Church and converted to Catholicism on Easter of 1985. After graduating from Gladbrook High School in 1976, he earned a Bachelor's Degree (in Business) from the University of Northern Iowa. Doug had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Early in his career he was fortunate to explore most of Europe and the Caribbean. Doug had a fascination with birds from an early age. Growing up on the family farm he was able to raise various breeds of chickens and ducks as pets. Doug will be remembered for his caring nature and witty sense of humor.
Doug is survived by his two siblings: William (Crystal) Petersen, Sara (David) Quarles; four nieces and nephews, Jacob (Tayler Keitzer) Petersen, Levi (Hillary) Petersen, Taylor (Josh) Peterson, Bryan (Amy) Quarles. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 a.m., Friday November 20, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com
