Mary Jo Alger
May 26, 1961 - November 18, 2020
Mary Jo Alger (nee Schumacher) was born in Monroe, WI on May 26, 1962. She earned a BA in psychology from UW Whitewater, where she also met Chis Alger, her husband of 35 years. Inheriting the family business, Mary became a staple of the Janesville community as the owner of The Real Cheese Place. She sold cheese and good conversation, treating everyone who came into the store as a friend. Mary loved everyone and everyone loved Mary.
She passed away peacefully with her family around her on November 18, 2020 at age 58. She is survived by husband, Chris; children, Ryan (Carissa Beckwith) Alger and Christina Alger; parents, Nancy and Roger Schumacher; sister, Jackie (Jerry) Liberko; brother, Joe Schumacher and fiancee', Michelle VanFleet; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
