Betty Ann Gausman, 86, of Latimer, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. She was born December 24, 1933, in rural Coulter, Iowa, to Richard and Gladys (Rodemeyer) Thielen.

Betty graduated from Franklin Consolidated. She was united in marriage to Harris Gausman on December 28, 1983, in Webster City, Iowa. In early years, Betty was a healthcare worker in Hampton and Clarion. She then worked for Service Master for many years. Betty also helped at Mother's Place in Latimer and loved the socialization she had. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton and was a member of their Ladies' Aide.

Betty enjoyed playing card games and Yahtzee, where she was known to cheat. She loved going on road trips with Harris, some of their favorite places being the Mississippi River and to numerous apple orchards. Betty was very fond of and loved spending time with her grandson Grayne and his children Hudson and Marlowe.

Betty is survived by her grandson Grayne (Jill) Bakker of Cedar Rapids; great grandchildren Hudson and Marlowe Bakker, Maggy and Delaney of Cedar Rapids; sisters Shirley (Robert) Swieter of Clarion and Irene (Richard) Shear of Arkansas; brother LaVerne Thielen of Cedar Falls; nephew Kurt (Roxann) Thielen of Latimer; great nieces Stephanie and Tricia Thielen; brother-in-law Ray Kracht of Dows; nieces and nephew Sue Kracht, Cherrie Willems and Chad Kracht; along with many other special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harris Gausman; daughter Debbie Bakker; son-in-law Greg Bakker; sisters Marge Thielen and Sandy "Sharon" Kracht; brothers Richard, Duane "Curly", William "Bill" and Gayhart Thielen; sisters-in-law Cora Lee and Carol Dee Thielen, Irma Milano, Bertha Thielen and Sharon Thielen.

Memorials may be directed to the St. John's Lutheran Church Gazebo Project.
