Kenneth Barta
December 25, 1937 - November 22, 2020

Kenneth Carl Barta, of Antigo, died Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 82 years old. He was born on December 25, 1937, in Mattoon, a son of Rudy and Rose (Kalz) Barta. He married Dorothy Petroski on May 16, 1959, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Chruch in Antigo. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2014.

Ken attended 1st grade at Elmhurst Grade School and 2nd through 8th grade at Chamberlain Grade School in Antigo. He graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1956.

He served in the National Guard from 1957 to 1962.

Ken worked for the Antigo Police Department from 1969 until his retirement on May 1, 1992. In retirement he drove cars for Brickner's of Antigo.

He enjoyed computers, watching TV, completing jigsaw puzzles, and fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Joseph) Wolf, Clearwater, Florida; two Sons, Paul Barta, Clearwater, Florida, Craig (Cheryl) Barta, Antigo; his dear friend Janice Murray, Antigo; four grandchildren Wyatt Barta, Amy (Marvin) Brisby, Michael (May) and Cady Molitor; five great-grandchildren Devon, Marvin Jr. and Malik Brisby, Sade Molitor and Cierra Hurlbert.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son Gary in infancy, and a brother, Richard (Kathy) Barta.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Callistus Elue officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday also at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
