Leslie "Bud" Raymond Holtsclaw
November 27, 1939 - November 25, 2020

Leslie "Bud" R. Holtsclaw, 80, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care (107 North Main Street, Baxter). A graveside service will follow in Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa. Leslie was born in Baxter, Iowa on November 27, 1939 to Loy "Tuffy" and Gertrude "Gertie" Holtsclaw. He was raised in Baxter where he attended school and graduated with the Baxter High School class of 1958. Following school, he attended the University of Iowa. He returned to Baxter and married Patricia Carl on November 25, 1959. Bud started working at The Vernon Company until a round of layoffs had him apply at Lennox Manufacturing. In 1962 his family moved to Marshalltown. Lennox had Bud start an apprenticeship in the engineering department, later he went on and trained as a draftsman, manager of the paint department, and ending his 42-year career as the Production Engineer. Bud moved back to Baxter in 2008 until in 2017 he moved to Marshalltown to help take care of his son Kris. Bud was on the board of the Lennox Credit Union, and was a member of the Management Club, and Pepper Parties. He loved to spending time with his family, most especially his grandkids. He also enjoyed solitary, computer slot machines, emailing people, cooking, mowing the lawn, watching basketball and football, watching high school athletics on TV, watching the TV classics like Red Green Show, ME TV, PBS, and Down Abby. Bud was known for his great napping skills and his suspenders.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his sons Kris Holtsclaw of Marshalltown, IA, Brent (Lisa) Holtsclaw of Baxter, IA, and Troy (Bill) Holtsclaw of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Meghann (Lonnie) Hammitt, Keegan Holtsclaw, and Sara Holtsclaw; great-grandchildren Maxwell and Livianne Hammitt, Serenity Holtsclaw, Jillian and Rayleigh Jordan; close family friends Dianna Dougan, and Jacob Jordan; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, brother Charles, sister Rosile McDermott, and daughter-in-law Kathy Holtsclaw.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Bud and his family.

"Les was a wonderful coworker. He was an excellent product engineer and was a personal mentor to me as I learned the ropes at Lennox. His hard work and knowledge transfers continue to be evident in the Lennox manufacturing plant to this day. He is truly one of the great ones who made Lennox what it is to day. I appreciated being able to work with him and he is greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Les."

"While employed at Lennox there were many a question regarding parts specs , also quality of finished parts....Les was my "go to" man when those questions arose. Les was prompt, pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable concerning he in-house fabricated parts, as well as Lennox products produced, esp. in the heating sector. Rest in peace Les!"
