"My mom was someone that always dressed to the 9's, my mom was a one classy lady. As a little girl I would sit at her vanity and play with her make-up and try to walk in her high heels. My mom always told me to keep trying to do my best and never let anyone tell you that you can't succeed. Toward the end of my mom's life I went to see her at the hospital and she was real tired but when she saw me she went to asking about my health and asking what the doctor prescribed for me (not worrying about herself but instead worrying about her baby daughter) that was the type of mother and person she was, worried about others and not herself. My mom was amazing like that and I will truly miss her."

"Growing up with my mother-I have always felt surrounded by love. As a little girl I remember climbing in her bed on Sunday to read the Sunday comics. As an adult I was blessed to get to know my mother as a friend and I grew to love her even more because she was my mother and my friend. My mom was funny, fun and loved life. She loved music, she did her therapy to Johnny Taylor and Tyrone Davis. When she was relaxing in her room she'd always ask Alexa to play, "I Wanna Know Your Name " by The Intruders. I will miss her quiet strength and love of life. "

"As the first grandchild I had the pleasure to be her mini me. She was my first best first. Shopping almost every weekend. My goto when my mom was not giving me what I want. I moved with my grandmother my sophomore year in college and moved out when I got my first job. A job she paid for me to pursue in California. I remember wanting to change my degree to social worker and she said hell no they don?t make any money. So here I am today an engineer thanks to my grandmother. I never got the chance to say thank you but I am very appreciative of the women who took me in and made me who I am today. I love you Meme and thank you; you will forever be remembered. -Bianca Franchelle Young"

"Our Christmas Angel - Christmas was my sisters favorite time of year. She put up her white flocked tree no later than the 1st week of November. My parents said when Gwen was a little girl they would leave the Christmas tree up sometimes until her birthday in March. And when they took it down she would cry. Throughout my life she made Christmas extra special for me, our family and so many friends. Everyone was welcome at her house. if you came just 1 time on Christmas day you never wanted to miss going ever again. She knew the secret ingredients; great food, family, friends and unconditional love = The Best Day Ever. Rest in peace big sis. Gone but never forgotten. Elaine "
