In loving memory of

Laura LaPointe
October 8, 1926 - November 30, 2020

Laura Marie LaPointe (nee Jorde) passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 8, 1926 in Thief River Falls, MN, one of nine children. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. In the later years, her family enjoyed reminding/teasing her of her title as "Miss Land O' Lakes" as a teenager.

While working in Minneapolis, she met the love of her life, Ed LaPointe on a blind date at a U of M Gopher Basketball game and married in 1949.

After living in Pennsylvania and Kansas, they settled in Minnesota to raise their family in Bloomington and Rochester. Laura was a loving wife, mother, and faithful friend and teacher of living skills at the DAC. She was always busy and an avid golfer. For many years she treasured summers at her lake home in Wisconsin and winters in Arizona. She was admired for her eternal optimism and kind and gentle disposition with God as her cornerstone, always. A faithful servant to the end.

Laura is survived and sincerely missed by her children, Lynn, Debbie, David (Michelle) and Kim; adoring grandchildren, Megan, Josh, Andy, Sonja, Luke, Kelsey, Eric, Lauren, Colin, David, and Adam; great-grandchildren, Elly, Kaleb, Aiden, and Ella; two special sisters-in-law, many friends, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband and love, Edward, and son-in-law, Dale Petit.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN.

A private service celebrating Laura's life will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. The service for Laura may be viewed on Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Ranfranzandvine under the videos section. Her service will still be available to view at a later date.

Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home is honored to be serving the LaPointe family.

"Dear David and Family, Our Condolences to all of you on the passing of your Dear Mother. She was a beautiful soul inside and outwardly. I first met her while volunteering at The Hiawatha Homes in the early 70's. Laura was the Best Mentor I could have ever wished for. How lucky for you to be able to call her 'Mother!' May you hold those precious memories close to your hearts and be comforted with knowing how much we all adored her. Our Sincere Sympathy, Jim and Gaylene Ryan"

"To my dear cousins Lynn, Debbie, David, Kim and all the kids: My heart aches for all of you. Your Mom/Grandma was one of the kindest souls I've ever known and we are all so lucky to have had her in our lives for as many years as we did ... even if it doesn't feel nearly long enough! We will all miss her so very much! I wish that we could be there in person tomorrow to share a hug (and a box of tissues). But know that the Struntz bunch will be joining the service remotely and will be with you in spirit. Love you all. Please let us know if there is anything we can do! Pam (LaPointe) Struntz, Gary, Kevin & Katy "

Sue LaPointe wrote on Dec 3, 2020:

"Dear Lynn, Debbie, David and Kim, Although this week has been one with sadness, I am happy to say that I was so fortunate to become a member of the LaPointe family and so blessed to have Laura for a sister-in-law. I feel that she took the place of my sister, who passed from breast cancer many years ago. I also loved knowing her family, the Jordes. I feel so lucky to have had her share a big part of my life. The memories we shared, some were sad, but the rest are priceless. I am so thankful for the recent good times of this past year that we had and with you girls also. May you know my heart and love is there with all of you, especially tomorrow, and only wish things were different and I could be there with all of you for support and HUGS. Love to you dear nieces and nephew, Aunt Sue "

"To the LaPointe Family, I was so sorry to hear about Laura today. She was such a beautiful soul inside and out. I have no doubt that our parents are rejoicing together and sitting around the card table for a nice game of 500! Your mom and dad meant the world to my mom and dad. It makes me so happy that they are all in paradise together again. My heart goes out to all of you and I love you. My deepest sympathy, Karen (Fenske) Yess"
