Karen Young, age 82, of Boone, Iowa, died at her home on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Karen Patricia Young was born November 30, 1938, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Dudley D. and Mildred (Frazier) Swanson. She attended school in Boone. On December 21, 1958, Karen married Richard Young in Boone. They were parents to Christine, Kevin, and Laurie.
Karen was employed as an event planner at the Boone Country Club. She genuinely enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, and the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her three children, Christine (Ray) Cowles of Port Orchard, WA, Kevin Young of Boone, and Laurie (Lance) Larson of Boone; grandchildren, Sarah (Travis) Pfrimmer, Annie Musser, Heather Phipps, and Tony Kroll, all of Boone; and four great-grandchildren, Adylyne and Amaya Musser, and Kandyn and Talynn Kroll. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Swanson of Bella Vista, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Joyce; and her son-in-law, Ronald Musser.
Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Karen and her family.
