BARBARA SCHAFER
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Barbara 'Barb' Jean Schafer, 82, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, at Lutheran Living.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside service will be held at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online Condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Humane Society in Barbara's honor.

Barb was born on May 13, 1938, in Holyoke, Colorado, the daughter of Lloyd and Gladys Horner Hampton. She graduated from Muscatine High School, class of 1956. She married James Daniel Hill in 1956. He preceded her in death in 1978. She later married Don Schafer in 1983 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Barb worked for a telephone company until her retirement. She was a member of Ss. Mary and Mathias parish.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre. Barb loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great grandkids, and her special friend, Bud White.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Pam Allee and her husband, Randy, of Muscatine, Jerry Hill and his wife, Debbie, of Muscatine, James Hill Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Muscatine, and Angela Schulz and her husband, Joe, of Hawaii; and her special friend, Bud White, of Wilton; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and her siblings, Henry Hampton, Chet Hampton, Shirley Mosley, and Larry Hampton.

I so enjoyed the year in RCIA that I spent with her and Bud so faithfully every Tuesday evening! Your Mom was a treasure!!
